The wood is all pre-waxed. No nail holes - instead pre-drilled SCREW holes for more precise assembly. And both the pre-waxed hive body AND the pre-waxed foundations smelled so much like "bee home" that our girls spent no time getting acquainted - they just moved right in!

As normal, good quality wood and frames. Only lost one star because I paid the extra $5 for the assembled vs the cheaper unassembled hive and was confused when it arrived in pieces. Maybe it was something I misread on the website.

There are 3 things I like about your hives and frames. Easy to assemble without need for clamps, as with finger jointed boxes. No need to paint and the quality and fit of the frames.

The package did come damaged with a small chip to the bottom board, but nothing detrimental. Would recommend rethinking the packaging or add styrofoam?

When I opened the box and saw all the parts I was worried that I would not do this correctly. But the parts fit together snug and the instructions were straightforward. Not only does it look good, especially with the beeswax finish, but it is fairly sturdy.
